Quite a tragedy for Russia. I remember doing a piece in my Illustration class on this back when it happened.

It's hard to imagine something that large (over 500' in length) moving in excess of thirty miles per hour while submerged. The crew must have great trust in their sensors to move that fast while totally blind

A submarine can be seen from the air while operating at about 100' depth. Can you imagine the wake from a vessel this size moving at 30knots? Also, as I recall this was one of the possible conclusions when it occurred. There hasn't been a submarine loss since WWII that I am aware of that was lost due to hostile action. There is a reason for sub pay.
