Please don't dismiss this without reading simply because of the source. It is a very well written and thought out piece that ends with a very important question: "Can the American [news] media be fixed?" As the author correctly observes "The 2016 election was the media's Humpty Dumpty moment. It fell off the wall, shattered into a million pieces, and can't be put back together again." Still there is hope. It will take decades for the debilitating effects of the Left's dominance in the education of journalists to be rooted out (assuming that the effort ever begins). The present generation of journalists are beyond hope and will simply have to die off (much like the Soviet citizens will have to die off before Russia can go beyond the effects of communism). The real question must be: Will there be a news media left by the time that true journalism is again practiced or will a new media be providing it? It seems that shift is already taking place, doesn't it?

There was a time when you needed three independent sources to print a controversial story, now major newspapers will happily print rumors and opinion as fact. This is not the fault of "bad reporters" because it would not and could not happen if the editors did not allow it. I recently read (and independently verified) that the Washington Post had printed 128 retractions in a two week period. "Journalism" as we once knew it is all but dead. It has been replaced by its much more profitable cousin "Public Relations". The majority of news outlets" have become completely subsumed by major corporations and are only being kept open for their public relations value. The days of news outlets being ran as a public service are long over. If the owners and editors did not want poor journalism, we would not have it. The real question is why have the standards been allowed to fall so low?

Can Journalism be fixed? Seems a bit like drug addiction, first you have to admit and recognize the problem.. The smug jerks pouty faced over Ossoff's loss demonstrate we have a long way to go! Those journalists are still in denial!
