I don't know about you but one thing I learned in the military (over and over and over again) was "Don't sweat the small shit". Well, what divides us today isn't small. It's fundamental. No, it's not our political affiliation or our ideology. I'm talking about responsibility. Free people take responsibility for their words, choices, and actions. Subjects surrender their personal liberty in exchange for freedom from responsibility. If we are to live with each other, one must surrender their personal liberty or the other must surrender their"sugar daddy" form of government. Sadly, I don't foresee either happening without a great struggle such as the one in which we are now engaged and violence is already breaking out...

MSG Stan Hutchison - How many new gun laws have been enacted, contrary to the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. COnstitution? Eminent Domain laws ignore the 4th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Civil Forfeiture allows law enforcement to confiscate (steal) cash or other monetary instruments that they only believe/claim was gained from some type of crime (no probable cause, just one person's feeling) again in contravention of the 4th Amendment, Political Correctness has stifled the 1st Amendment, political "Activists" (aka Domestic Terrorists) have been allowed to destroy property, injure and kill people, and block roads with impunity. The Patriot Act (and its successors) and the NDAAs since 2001 have severely curtailed and infringed American freedoms and liberties. "Stop and frisk" laws in certain states have also infringed on the 4th Amendment. I can go on, but I think the point has been made.

MSG Stan Hutchison - We the People who value liberty (true "liberals") have been acceding to the wishes of those who want a sugar daddy form of government. We've been doing this for several decades now "just to keep the peace", and we've been pushed to the wall. America is no longer recognizable. That's crap...

Stanley, if you can't read the laws being passed today within context of Article I Section VIII, you have failed to understand your oath. Every law they pass not constrained by those limitations, ultimately limit our freedoms and true intent of self-governance. I don't need some busybody politician telling me that I can't say certain words or I have to buy/sell my property using some stupid regulatory form that has nothing to do with private property, but is taxed to pay a bureaucrat to make sure every box is filled out in black ink. If that's the way you wish to live, so be it, but I'm not you and your feelings don't give you the right to tell the rest of the country how to behave, period.

I agree with the article. The problem I see with America is there are no more "Americans". We identify with our belief versus identifying with each other. We don't identify as Americans until we are viciously attacked and then we ban together for a very small amount of time and then we begin worrying about who shot john versus fixing the reason John got shot. The author states "When anger transforms into contempt, permanent damage takes place." This is a huge problem. These days I blame technology for contempt when it comes to politics. Someone just wants to stir up trouble, all they have to do is to post a fake news story or a partial truth and it spreads worse than a California wildfire. Before we know it, it breeds anger among both sides and then violence breaks out. Too many Americans these days have the mentality that I am right and you are wrong and if you continue to disagree I will destroy you and then take my toys and go home. The pure hatred that is in people now is appalling and it has to stop and we have to work together or we will fail. Ben Franklin (paraphrase as best I can remember) stated it best, "we must hang together or we will certainly hang separately." I am afraid our nation is headed for an implosion if we don't turn around and learn to agree to disagree without hatred.

Americans are, and have always been, tolerant to a point. I have come to believe that time if fast coming to a close.
Some say we are "headed for a civil war". I believe we have already passed the point of no return in that regard. Not to the point of an actual shooting war, but that is no longer outside the realm of possibilities, in my opinion...
Our nation has not been this divided since the period leading up the the first shots being fired in 1861 and I think we are dangerously close to that point again. Granted, times and views have changed many times since then, but at this point, when our own elected officials, aides and abetted by an agenda driven media, and funded by others who are, quite frankly, Marxist style socialists with billions at their disposal, I fear for the future of our nation as the Constitutional Republic it was at its founding...
The American people have always been somewhat rebellious in nature, and that's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself. The danger comes into play though, when our American youth is systematically indoctrinated to believe that America is somehow evil, racist, greedy, empirialist, and somehow responsible for all existing problems in the world. University professors, political groups, and even elected officials are allowed to advocate and call for the deaths of other Americans without consequences. In fact, the lack of consequences for that type of deviant behavior seems to encourage even more as time goes by.
When elected officials, abetted by an agenda driven media, and funded by millionaire/billionaire donors, apparently crave self enrichment, power, and control over others more than they seem to care about what is best for America, and therefore, the American people, how can we realistically anticipate a positive future?
When elected officials, university professors, political parties and groups openly accuse any political opposition of racism, xenophobia, homophobia, murderers, being evil, hateful, monsters, and enemies of the state in desperate attempts at gaining political victories and power, they blatantly "dehumanize" ALL Americans. That alone is an extremely dangerous mindset for any American to have: history has born that out numerous times since our founding g as a nation.
When we Americans allow media personalities, "entertainers", political activists, or anyone else to portray our leaders as decapitated heads or to even act out their assassination and call it art, we have serious deep seeded issues as a nation.
When the American people continuously elect, and then re-elect corrupt officials on both parties simply because of "name recognition", the problems will continue to get worse....
When we American continue to allow our children to be indoctrinated to hate and despise their own country and the founding principles enumerated in our constitution, we cannot be destined for anything but failure.
When we allow our national borders to be overrun: when our elected officials continually encourage and facilitate the legal and illegal entry into our nation with the sole purpose of increasing voting roles for their party, came nflict will be inevitable. As long as foreigners are encouraged and invited here by corrupt, power drunk, self serving politicians who promise them the hard earned products of American workers we will continue to decline further. As long as foreigners who hate our nation and have no intention of ever assimilating into our unique American culture, our problems
increase exponentially. Until we, as a culture, re-inculcate our youth with a sense of patriotism and national pride and greatness, things will only get worse.
The list of things that have caused us, as a people to get to this point can go on and on and still be incomplete....
I don't know what the answers are,or even if anything can be done to avoid it at this point.
The only thing I do know is that I can do all in my own power to be honest in all things, face the hard cold truth and call things exactly as I see them regardless of results, encourage my fellow Americans to realize that we ARE a special and unique culture in the world and a source of good for all people who desire to participate in our republic. And to continue instructing my posterity of the same. Maybe some will hear the message, maybe they won't, but that will not prevent my attempts.
In closing this commment, I will fully acknowledge that Lady Liberty is NOT perfect. She has warts and scars just the same as everybody else, but with that being said, I will never turn away from conviction that, even with all of her faults, Our country, the United States of America, is still the best thing going in the world today, no exceptions...
If anyone thinks america is so evil and such a terrible place to be, I challenge each to pick a better country... Pick a better one out there, and if you find it, let me know and then move there and live the dream life that country has. It won't hurt my feelings even a little and Iwont lose a millisecond of sleep in my bed here in America from their absence.
Just my opinion.....
