How does the old saying go? If it seems too good to be true it probably is. A country can't print money to get out of poverty, or order others to give money that can't be supported by the economy.

All of these places that implemented these significant minimum wage increases are seeing it blow up in their faces from what I've gathered. Then again maybe that was the plan to begin with. Put more people out of work so there are that many more people on the governments teet.

It baffles me that people don't understand that if you raise the minimum wage, you also have to shift the rest of the wage scale upward, even if it isn't as great an increase as the increase in the minimum wage. No way to do that without impacting prices, hours, number of employees ... or some combination thereof.

Econ. 101 stuff. Anyone with a working knowledge of business could, and many of us did, predict this result.

Cost of living is going up no matter the wage.

SPC (Join to see) - Yep ... a lot of things influence the price of an apple in Peoria ... government regulation and labor costs among them. Don't recall saying anything about the cost of living not going up ... just that jacking the minimum wage would drive a chain reaction that sure as hell would drive the cost up ... or wage hours down ... or the number of employees down ... or a combination thereof.

It should not baffle you these people do not understand, Sir you have the education to understand the process where as the minimum wage worker does not. No politician will tell them either as they want their votes so they will in turn support the ignorance.
