I am sick and tired FIRST THIS and FIRST THAT. A lot of the negativity surrounding these "Firsts" would likely not occur or would quickly and quietly dissipate if the related stories or events simply took place on their own, without any of this unnecessarily focused publicity.

I'm with you there, SCPO (Join to see). Why in the hell can't people just celebrate a victory. Why does it always have to be a race to diversity. Just pick the best candidates for the job.

Real progress is made when the door is not only opened - but a woman is actually allowed to walk through it - and compete on a level playing field with the men. This indicates to everyone else involved the time has come to make this happen today.

I hope she makes it using the exact same standards as a man! If she needs special treatment she shouldn't be there. If she succeeds just like the guys that will pave the way for other women. Don't give her special treatment. The enemy won't give her any breaks.
