I like the firearms. But, the real reason the West was won was 90% of the native population (North and South America) died by illness by 1790. After that, a stone age culture did not have a chance in the long run against the industry that can make cannon.
Sure, A lot of native American tribes were very good at fighting and it showed at the Little Bighorn. However, Sherman knew he would win and so did Grant.
Had the remianing western tribes united and fled to northern Idaho and southern BC, they could still be there today. It would have been like invading Japan.

Very true COL Morris. Although there has been more then enough battle experience to show that the technological and good training of troops combined has overpowered a large domestic force. Like Cortez was able to win key decisive victories over the Incas of course disease played major factor in wiping out the population but Cortezs military victories ensured that the Incas would not be so willing to meet his force in open combat and kept them on the defensive. In evermore recent history the PMC group executive outcomes involvement in the war in Sierra Lionne the company almost singlehandedly brought the RUF to the peace table that was force collectively numbering almost 150,000 fighters up against executive outcomes which brought just over 150 personnel they were able to do that through technology and organized force.

PFC (Join to see) - Thank you for the promotion PFC. Most do confuse Cpl's with Flag officers. I suspect, it is grammer, punctuation and tone of the written word that does it.
Kind Regards,

Thanks SGT (Join to see) for sharing the basic of five rifles that were very significant in the second half of the 19th century west of the Mississippi
The seven-shot Spencer repeating rifle made a significant impact when it was introduced to US cavalry units and sharpshooters in the US Civil War.
