This video, and the opinions contained in it, start from a false premise. That is, that the Left is only interested in feeling good. Feeling good comes from doing good. Progressive programs have done more to help people than conservative programs. It isn't all about feeling good.

I would disagree with that. Maybe you can elaborate what programs you speak of?

Medicare/Medicaid, TANF, SNAP, Social Security, the VA. Just a few off the top of my head. Maybe you could list a few conservative programs that have helped people? That would be nice, since I can't think of any.

I agree. Enjoyed how the video determined someone wrote an editorial (opinion) in 1987 that viewed minimum wage one way and then 20 yrs later someone else writes an editorial (opinion) with an opposite view. Is it possible that the opinion on minimum wage argument changed over the last 20 years? Nope, it's because NYT became more Liberal. So I'd like to ask Conservatives if the GOP healthcare plan (any of the versions) fit the "Does it do good?" narrative? PragerU makes me laugh.

Yes. My room-mate at USAFA was ahead of his time. He used the metaphor "water or wave" to mean "the substance" and "the form" of some government policy. When a liberal politician uses "virtue signaling", especially to satisfy a special interest group, listen for what they are actually advocating. They are advocating for appearances over reality. Building a wall, controlling the border, and reducing illegal immigration is just one example of: "the mean-spirited, xenophobic, racist behavior this president has demonstrated." You see how it is all about emotion, all form, no substance, and it signals virtue to those who prioritize inclusiveness over national integrity, and emotion over intellect.

I would say in matters of public policy, do less and do so only when there is a compelling reason and when it is based by solid statics and data. There should also be objective measures showing what improvements are being made. We need proof the program is doing what is said it would do and not with anecdotes or feel gooodisms etc. Have a plan to sunset the program too. We start things and never, ever end them.

There is a tendency to make public policy based upon wanting to help people. That is an admirable goal but the government is not the only means by which people can be helped nor is it always the best method.

Public program aren't ended because the need for them does not end.
