Do you buy this presentation? The focus is on the quality of the troops, their equipping and their training. I found it interesting that their allegiance is to the "Party" and not the country. When coupled with the lack of a pure central command authority where all the services could be linked in a unified strategic policy.

All the weaknesses of the old Soviet Red Army but orders of magnitude more cannon fodder. The question to ask... "can they project the power & can they support it logistically"

There inability to project power is their greatest weakness, the one that is our ultimate defense. However, we can't simply expect that to continue forever

The difference between police and secret police is similar. Police enforce laws, gathering evidence and apprehending criminals. Secret police protect tyrants, gathering rumors and apprehending possible revolutionaries. Here you seen the difference between an American military sworn to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution versus a Communist military sworn to preserve, protect, and defend a tyrant. Tyrannies such as Communism cannot exist without coercion.
