Hum...

While I don't agree with harassing people, or threatening them, or attempting to murder them, I also kind of think they were living in a pipe dream thinking coming out in Ky would be 100% accepted. Sure its Amazon that doesn't mean every person that works for Amazon is a progressive thinker. The managers should have ended the behavior that's what they are there for. if your company has a policy then enforce it or get a new job. So on that note I hope they win their law suit, seems on the surface to be warranted. I don't think the larger Amazon company is at fault just the managers at that center.

In other news I caught this part "ADA comes into play in this case because Schawe-Lane's status as a transgender woman was perceived her employers as a disability" and I cant help but think of Trump and his statement. While I have no issue with Trans I do question a few things about Trans serving, especially in combat units. 1: If being Trans is a ADA Disability... how are they fit to serve? 2: If 80% of the 18 to 26 year old Trans people contemplate or attempt suicide, (which precluded you from service) how is giving them a gun and placing them in a high stress environment in their best interest? If a Trans person can not accept themselves for who they were born as why do they demand everyone else accept them for who they wish to think they are?

I'm not being mean, or trying to disrespect trans people. I have said it before the worst war is the one fought in your own mind. We in the Military have received our marching orders and now must find a way to resolve the issues that will come from this policy. I just think my three questions warrant some thought.

Being a transsexual or transvestite is not considered being disabled under the ADA.
Being transgender is and transgender activist wanted it. I fought it and the adoption of the word transgender and still do.
At this point I removing all LGBT self- identified personnel as domestic enenemies.
Point to this, point to Chelsea Manning and other incidents and get rid of them.
Them pick off the religious nutbags who want America's laws to reflect their religion.

PFC Lisa McDonald - The point I was trying to make was if it is defined as a disability then how can serve in the military. We don't let the half blind in, the fully blind, the wheel chair bound, flat foot, or any number of a thousand disabilities in.... So how can they claim they are disabled yet still fit to fight? More to the point how can we in good conscious give people weapons and subject them to high amounts of stress knowing that they have a higher than average suicide rate and tendency's? In Manning's case it was not about being trans, it was about not being allowed to be openly gay. He was not handing out classified data due to some Nobel cause he was doing it as retaliation for his boyfriend leaving him because he was in the closet. He is a traitor. I have had the pleasure of working with several gays and lesbians, both before the repeal of DODT and after, ALL save one have been dam fine sailors. I do not have any issues with peoples sexual orientation, I take issue with peoples mental stability. If someone is a known head case or on the far end of a potential head case it is not in their or the military's best interest to place them in the stressful environment we call home. To be honest I have found the Lesbian women less emotional than the gay men and easer to work with. The gay men try to hard to be feminine, and bitch worse than a valley girl running out of lip stick. lol.

I think people should live their lives as they wish with the simple rule, don't make me pay for it, don't demand I approve of it, don't pass laws that push it. If more people just stayed in their lanes the world would be a nicer place.

CPO (Join to see) - It's not defined as a disability. ONE judge in ONE case said that this person could sue under ADA. I bet you anything if it gets appealed that decision will not stand up. I read the article she posted. The person who sued didn't even sue under ADA. She sued under Civil Rights Act and two other laws. No one in the medical community nor any other judges have said that being transgender is a disability.

The only reason they have a high suicide rate is because of the way society or their families treat them. Can you imagine your life if you were on a constant, daily basis threatened, ridiculed, harassed and had NO support system? That's what happens to transgender people. Many times when they come out they get disowned by their family and friends and are outcast. So there goes the support there. Studies show that transgender people who have support among families and society don't have high suicide rates.

Manning's case was not about her being transgender OR sexual orientation. Manning was a disrespectful little punk who should have NEVER been allowed through basic. In fact, someone submitted paperwork to have her discharged during basic and that was denied. Then Manning went to the most dysfunctional unit I've ever heard of from what I've read. Toxic leadership. Horrible leadership within the S2. Where in the world did you hear Manning leaked that info because of a break up? The problem with Manning is she was in during a time when the Army needed bodies and didn't care who they took in. It was the time of moral waivers I believe and relaxing standards to get support the surge. That's it.

I don't know what gay men you have been around but the ones I know don't try to act feminine. My brother is definitely far from acting feminine too and he's gay. None of his friends I met are the stereotypical gay either.

SFC (Join to see) - Iv encountered them in the Military and before that when I was a Chef in the Civi world. Some very flamboyant waiters out there lol. I will have to find the article where I read about manning it was a very long time ago, and was manning's own words. Something on the lines of "I was in a horrible place and stress and my boyfriend was pressuring me" If I remember correctly. Manning might have been in a dysfunctional unit but that's no reason to commit treason. Obama letting manning off was a treasonous act as far as I care.

The Article your ref I didn't post and haven't read. I read the original post where it was said

"ADA comes into play in this case because Schawe-Lane's status as a transgender woman was perceived her employers as a disability"

So Amazon perceived her Transgender status as an ADA issue and I didn't see any where it was disputed. While I hope they do sue and win, as Amazons local leadership in this case was lacking and I hope they take a step further in that the police did not seem to investigate who attempted to murder them by cutting their break lines.

I really don't care about peoples personal lives or who they do, or what group they prescribe to, I simply don't want our Tax dollars to pay for it, and I don't want the Military to be a social experiment.

Capt Christopher Mueller - I can't believe anyone would try to think this is correct behavior for a company. I very highly doubt they expected their warehouse to "roll out the red carpet" for them. I think they expected a safe and hostile-free work environment like EVERYONE ELSE.

Where does it say that he "announced" that his wife is transgender? It doesn't. "This country isn't ready for this social experiment..." No YOU aren't ready for this. You and those like-minded. That's your problem. Not theirs. When they told their supervisor of the harassment and threats the supervisors should have stopped it. They didn't - they joined in. Then someone cut their brake line...really? In a secure parking lot - who else could have done that but another employee? That's messed up.

If I was to go work somewhere in a civilian job and I got constantly harassed for anything, I would report it. If my bosses did nothing, I would go higher. If that didn't work, I'd probably quit but try to make sure it didn't happen to anyone else.

What if you got harassed at your job on a daily basis? Threatened? Someone cut the brakes in your car? Are you telling me you wouldn't be pissed off? Scared? Get real. This is about common human decency.

You honestly are a disgusting human being and I feel sorry for anyone who you had leadership over. It's really sad to see people like you had served in the military and some probably still are. Your ideology sets the stage for toxic leadership.

Follows her like a disease? Are you serious? Whoever told you that also needs as much help as you. If I could downvote you I would. What a horrible comment and statement to make.

Capt Christopher Mueller - Maybe if you didn't block me I could just respond to your comments and you could just respond to mine instead of calling me out without the ability to respond in your thread. I'm not bashing anyone. I'm calling it how I see it.

I have no idea what you're talking about with this: "and oh, guess what the individual in question was then removed from the military because it was not classified as male or female during that time period." I have no clue what that means nor do I care. I made a statement based on your comments that you could have possibly allowed a toxic environment.

"i appreciate your message but their are executives who are speaking out on this crap now and don't want nothing to do with them "AT ALL", some of which are not even Trump supporters but now they can come forward and make that choice to hire them or not." I don't know what this means either. I didn't send a message. This "crap?" What "crap?" I didn't know treating other people like human beings was "crap."

"do you want to deal with the mental instability of some of these folks, I don't think so, not daily. People are fed up with this and yes I am one of them and so are a lot of those who feel the same way as me. Close-minded or not, its a fact and for such a small percentage of society that continues to stir the crap pot!!!!"

I have no issue serving with or working with any one who is transgender or homosexual or bisexual. I have served with people who identify as such. I didn't know at the time a few but had suspicions they were and have recently found out that I was right. So what? I don't care who consenting adults have sex with. I don't care if someone identifies as the opposite gender of what they were born as. I don't care because it's not my circus, not my monkeys. It does not affect my life. I go home at the end of the day and it doesn't affect me at all. I do have a brother who is homosexual - and he's still the same person he's always been but ever since he came out at 20 he's a lot happier than he was before that. It makes me so sad to think about how he had to hide that most of his life because had he come out when he was younger in my shitty small farm town then he would have been beaten or likely killed.

People are fed up with what? What are you "fed up" with? What? Is anyone forcing you to be gay or transgender? No. This story is about two people who were threatened, harassed and had their lives threatened. That's all I see. A man and a woman who were treated as less than human.

Nothing you have said is a "fact." If you would like to have an adult discussion feel free to unblock me or message me. But it's kind of cowardly to call me out in comments you know I can't reply to.

Using lgbt language creates a toxic environment and violates individual rights as well as state and federal law.
Self identifying yourself as a "transgender woman" is intentionally othering yourself and calling your self a she male in a PC way.
As a person who has legally changed their sex I simply identify as female and a woman.
I worked for a major hog processor. While I will say I did have minor issues I did not make a big stink out of it.
The company knew I simply wished as I was a legally female person and a woman. No special accommodations treat me like any other female employee.
Not one employee misgendered me to my face. Some expressed they did not understand or that they were unhappy with kids transitioning. I could express my opinions also.
I would have loved to stay there but the work was to physically demanding for me.

PFC Lisa McDonald - I don't want to hear your crazy, irrational thoughts anymore. Nothing you say makes sense.

I'll say it again: I am NOT transgender. I am not homosexual. I don't know why you think I am because I have never said that I am.

Just because YOU don't agree with the term transgender doesn't mean other people don't. You don't get to decide what other people label themselves. You're discrediting other transgender people when you do that. You don't get to tell them how to be female or male.

You had MINOR issues. Was your life threatened? Were you daily harassed? Did you get ignored if you told the supervisor? Did your brakes get cut? No.

Where were there special accommodations in this story?? They just wanted to be in a safe and hostile free work place! That's it! Why is that so hard for people to understand??? They just wanted to be able to come to work and not be harassed, not be threatened and not have hostile and toxic work environment. I guarantee if you went through what they did you would have reported it. I would. If anyone ever treated me like that I would report it and if that boss didn't stop it I would go higher and higher.

You're a complete nutbag. I'm sorry but that's my perception based on your posts.

This is hard for me to believe. I am an engineer for Amazon and have been to Hebron and Lexington several times. Amazon has one of the best LBGT affinity programs in the world. This sounds more like a local cultural environment issue which will be addressed with rigorous effort. It can be hard for eight managers monitoring over 2000 people a day to catch all this.
