I don't get it. Now Marines can opt to do push-ups instead of pull-ups. The Corps' says their reason for this change is because they have eliminated the arm hang for woman but are aware that women have a big problem doing pull-ups and they don't want women to fail. Sounds to me like it's just more of the same not holding women to the same standard as men.

It’s been a long time for me, but women were not allowed combat billets in 1975. So do they go thru Geiger too, does their ruck match the mens? I can’t believe many women could ruck up 60 lbs or so and stay up, it’s just basic biology, body mass and strength. If they can maintain standards fine, but you don’t lower a bar to be more inclusive, the line is the line for a reason.

The issue with pushups is that you cannot get the maximum of 100 points like you can for pullups. The most you can get is 70 points. It is sad to see so many opt for this and STILL not be able to even max that event.

MGySgt (Join to see) - Yea, 70 pushups for a male Marine should be a piece of cake.

Darn, I used to get 290+ often. Then I went to the mountains in FT Huachuca.....and hit 300.
Probably not going to make that now days... Sad, our bodies get old and need to be turned in because they get serviceable. Age sucks.

Sgt (Join to see) - I do not remember a minimum or a maximum --just get it done.lol No one failed that i know of in my platoon and most maxed out.
We ran everywhere we went, never allowed to walk unless we were in formation and then most likely ended in a double-time. lol
