I remember spending time at a small Aussie/NZ compound at a place called Sembawang in Singapore... this would have been the mid-'70's...

Didn't know about Changi then because i was young & stupid... i always look back at that time as a missed opportunity to pay my respects.

If i had known then...

I feel the same way. I was deployed to Germany and didn't visit the cemeteries I should have. "Youth is wasted on the young" as George Bernard Shaw quipped.

SGT (Join to see) truer words were never spoken... right up there with "... if i'd known i was gonna live this long i'd've taken better care of myself ..."

My Uncle Angelo liberated the POW compounds in the Philippines. He told me that the men in his unit were just speechless as they saw the condition of the survivors of the Bataan Death March.

Interesting. It's tough to imagine the pain and misery those guys suffered.

It is a miracle any of them survived.
