We all have our own interests when it comes to photography. My wife enjoys the wildlife around our property and sunsets from our front deck.
Myself, scenic and wildlife. I never cared about people enough to do portraiture until I went through the Lightbenders Institute.
Some of you may have read about Lightbenders that I posted here, it was an 8 week course for Vets with PTS, each week was a different subject, I was dreading portraits because I don't care to deal with most people, until my niece graciously agreed to be my model.
I'm using Creative Cloud which gives me access to both Lightroom and Photoshop, I've used Photoshop Elements since Elements 4, but the full version of PS is a bit too much for me. But I do like Lightroom.
My wife helped out during the first half of the session, helping her relax, different poses, among other things. I'll try to get a couple pictures posted.
The second half of the session was near a river and forested, a change into shorts and t-shirt, and away we were off into the wilderness, I think it turned out really good especially since I don't normally deal with people.

So that's just an example of how/why some people have their own little niches.

People are largely absent from most of my photos... though i did spend a few days in Nawlins' French Quarter doing B/W candids... not during Mardi Gras... just happened to be there on business.

This hit home for me. I used to do photography and there is a story in every photograph.
