Another fallout from the lack of technical skills and the shift of education to more liberal arts. Our manufacturing ability is one of the main reasons we were able to get out of the Great Depression - we were the only manufacturing country left with an intact infrastructure. The article points out that our ability to do the same thing if a global conflict were to ignite, is all but deteriorated to dust.

Two topics. NAFTA and GATT.
The attack was n ot just on industry. It was to weaken America's middle class. It worked. Now, throw in welfare, debt, drugs, lack of morality, millions of illegal aliens, Islam...and you have weakness and division.
We are the last nation state to go down this rabbit hole of New Age BS. If Trump had not won, I bet we would have a North American Union and a new Constitution. Sans personal weapons.

I have written on this countless times. Not only do we lack the industrial base to mount a major war, we lack the economy to sustain it. Sure, we have the mightiest military in the world, but lack the resources to deploy it effectively

CPT Jack Durish which is why I love Mike Rowe so much. He is desperately trying to get some life back into the trade skill areas. Bless that man for trying to get us the ability to fix ourselves physically when stuff breaks.

The problem with trying to get life back into trade skills is that not many of the 30 and under crowd are interested in getting involved. They want clean soft hands at the end of the day.

I would agree, if we ever need the military equipment required for another World War, we are screwed. All we can hope for is that despite our inability to place a ship or plane in service from concept to in-service in less than 20 years tells us something.
