The Supreme Court is back in session. Here are the top cases to watch.
Why does this matter? Every time the SCOUS meets, the decisions deliberated over by the now "Nine Justices" over every aspect of our lives and freedoms. It is the arena where most of the liberal progressive issues have been enshrined. While they are supposed to be "non-political" (who knows that that means now-a-days), how each justice views the Constitution, its amendments and the law in general shapes their opinions.
Liberals tend to look at the Constitution as a flexible and living document which can be reinterpreted to mean different things. From them we get some gems as Bill Clinton's "It depends on your meaning of is." Conservatives see the founding documents as a binding contract between "We the people" and our government starting at the federal level and working down to the local municipal city entities.
If you have not done so already this year, please take some time and really read our founding documents, the bill of rights, and the Federalist Papers. Next, it wouldn't hurt to brush up on your US History. Finally, become aware of how we are governed or not governed.

Well, maybe... Chief Justice Roberts seems not to follow that philosophy. His ruling on the ACA went off the rails when he determined that it was a tax rather than a forced contract and then ignored the Constitutional mandate that all bills imposing taxes originate in the House. Personally, I prefer Scalia's Originalist view of the Constitution. It says what it says and it doesn't say what it doesn't say, all in plain language.
