It’s still open: Will the Guantánamo Bay prison become a 2020 issue?

MY COMMENT:
Carol Rosenberg is being intellectually dishonest when she says she "has no idea" how the US military detention facility at Guantanamo bay closes. She knows how it can close, and has even let slip the answer occasionally when asked about the Geneva Conventions and international law. Even lawful combatant POW's may be held "until the end of hostilities." The Gitmo detainees are, at the very least unlawful combatants, and entitled to ZERO extra legal privileges. 731 have been RELEASED, and NONE have been executed, beheaded, blown up, hacked to death, dragged naked and lifeless through the streets, drowned or burned alive, all things our enemies have done to us and/or our allies. Gitmo detainees enjoy FREE Qurans, prayer rugs/beads, directions to Mecca, white robes, beards, services of US military Muslim chaplains, world class health, dental and vision care, halal and holy Muslim holiday meals including lamb and baklava, candy, sweet tea, books, recreation, TV, DVD's, video games, library, games and sports. The Islamist equivalent to Gitmo is a PILE OF HEADS. There is not moral comparison to Gitmo and how our enemies treat their captives, yet, with all those facts, not ONCE EVER mentioned by Carol Rosenberg, all we get from her and the mainstream media are criticisms and accusations of abuse and torture, which are absolutely the exception and not the rule. Carol Rosenberg knows this, but insists on writing only about shortcomings and myths. How many things have you read about the dedication and sacrifice and discipline and honor of those who care for these detainees? International Committee of the Red Cross physicians I worked with at Gitmo in 2002, as the ranking US Army Medical Department officer with the Joint Detainee Operations Group, Joint Task Force 160, told me, "No one does [detention operations] better then the US." Sincerely, Major (Ret.) Montgomery J. Granger, author: "Saving Grace at Guantanamo Bay: A Memoir of a Citizen Warrior."
