SPC(P) (Join to see) I have an article like this, I didn't touch much on the books required, but where to start and I do put precedence on some certifications as every single company requires them. The only time I would say they are not necessarily needed is if you are starting your own company.

I agree, load up on the certs if you can afford it. I wouldn't put them in my name on linkedin though.

Also, I would still get a couple even if you work for yourself, some businesses would like to see some "credibility".

SPC(P) (Join to see) - Yeah but you have to realize certs aren't everything. The only thing they do is get you through the door. It is up to you to truly know what you are doing and what you are talking about.
