I read an article about this earlier today (on BBC) that was quite interesting. The basic concept of the article was that there were two problems in the USA. One being that there is no universal health care to pay for physical therapy so the doctors prescribe opioids, the second which I think is closer to the real problem, that doctors in the US are not taught about pain management. Combine this with the billions that big pharma spends yearly pushing their drugs to doctors I think we have a good idea of the cause of the problem.

They're always pushing for "universal health care". We have universal health care. The problem is paying for it. I'd be happy to hear about it when someone figures it out. Obviously, the Brits, Canadians, French, et all haven't figured it out. They're just pretending to provide health care while the govt pretends to pay them

They are doing something but is what they are doing Likely to do much, much of the source of the Current problem is doctors office and drug companies hpushing opioid's like they were candy, and very little resources are spent on treatment. Heroin comes int the picture because it is cheaper that Oxy.
If we block the heroin coming over the southern border it will just come in another way since it is very compact and it just came from the south because it was convent, most the Heroin in the US comes originally from Afghanistan.

I would like to see more specifics on the program. Every attempt to resolve drug dependency programs have cost lots of taxpayer dollars with very limited results.

Agreed. Simply "THROWING MONEY" at a problem is no solution. I would love to see/hear specifics of the plan.
