I think the facts within not being verified made it untouchable - Buzzfeed as well as Steele are being sued over this.

Agree - but I think the risk/hassle dulled the willingness to publish. Here's a good timeline of the events and the efforts made by Steele to get this published.

Fake News! JK. I have seen the reporting in multiple outlets that goes along with David Corn’s investigation. The unnamed Republican comes from multiple court filings around the issue. In those it’s characterized as an ‘unnamed donor’.

This will be dismissed by the Trump supporters, if it is even read by them, as just more "liberal bias."
I hope some actual facts come out to put an end, one way or the other, to this controversy.

I read Corn's opinion piece. Although Mother Jones leans heavily to the left, they have a solid reputation for reporting factual news. Corn presents a compelling argument diluted by the lack of facts as you noted MSG Stanley Hutchison.

Corn is a hard charger, he was responsible for the Mitt Romney "47 Percent" video and has been involved with stories that sometimes stretch the boundaries of journalistic integrity. However, I respect any journalist that is searching for the truth and Corn is no exception. The fact that Corn has not found any hard evidence on Trump must be very frustrating--his frustration is illustrated in this article. Who knows, maybe one day he will hit pay dirt and we will all be a little wiser.

Actually, it was paid for by a lawyer hired by the DNC.
By the way, I have seen very, very few "facts" come out as of yet.
