The house of cards is tumbling down, and people with any sense and the ability to do so are going to get the hell out of the way while they can.

Until now, Fusion GPS has been uncooperative in any investigation involving them. It's actually not a bad policy for a company that provides opposition research. But I think they've got the sense that this investigation is going to be a whole lot bigger than them, and they've got the choice of remaining uncooperative and possibly getting smushed like a bug by the investigation as it rolls on toward its objective, or sidestepping the path of the investigation by cooperating and remaining relatively unscathed.

People (Democrats) are already trying to avoid getting rolled by this investigation by claiming ignorance (some more plausibly than others), and it's just getting started.

That article leaves out a key point and few key distinctions. First, they don't mention that the DNC hired an American lawyer who hired an American firm that hired a British agent to conduct reasearch... that he'd already been doing for a GOP operative. Then, there's a few distinctions. Primarily, the DNC, or no one that was subcontracted through them, represented a foreign government, let alone an enemy one. Also, researching your opponent is standard practice... hence Republicans already going down this exact rabbit hole.

You flubbed a few facts. The initial conservative newspaper that started the research discontinued it prior to the hiring of Steele which meant Russia was not involved at the time.
DNC and Clinton paid approx 9 million dollars for Fusion GPS and Steele to obtain the info. Fusion GPS is reported to have a long history of providing politically motivated disinformation in the USA as well as other countries. Recent reports state they are one of the businesses that was providing information to various reporters about Trump over the past year and approached a number of government agencies, news media, and politicians with the dossier and other info prior to the election. Most refused to accept it for reasons that have been numerous reported.
According to a recent DNC statement, "they didn't ask where the info originated". This in itself is suspicious. Most responsible organizations that spend 9 million dollars want to ensure information is accurate. Combined with the fact that the Clinton organization also colluded with the Ukraine government for the same purpose, says volumes.

MSG (Join to see) - I never said the research didn't stop before the DNC began funding it. In fact, I used past tense. Not sure where you are going there. You state they have a long history of disinformation; please support this. Also, you allege Clinton's people "colluded" with the Ukrainian government; source please?

Please define what you mean by "GOP Operative". A conservative web site called the Washington Free Beacon began the opposition research. It was not part of the RNC and was not connected to any of the candidates. This is akin to describing any left leaning news media as a DNC operative. Where I am going is Steele and his connections to the Russians began after the Democrats hired Fusion GPS.
As for Fusion GPS, I attached one article below about how they have used disinformation tactics to support corrupt regimes and to smear opponents.
Recently the senate intelligence committee stated they had completed much of their investigation and some newspapers and particularly some reporters were going to be embarrassed. CNN has been one of the primary sources reporting information on the trump admin citing unnamed sources, etc. A recent news report states CNN reporters have very close ties to Fusion GPS.
One of the disinformation tactics listed in another news report is Fusion GPS would shop reporters to feed information. After that info was released, they would have another reporter feed additional info to boost the story they wanted.
Regarding Clinton's ties with Ukraine officials, this was reported earlier this year.

I mean a person or organization focused on progressing the agenda of the Republican Party. The Washington Beacon fits that definition, much as MSNBC would be a Democratic operative. It's someone who "operates" for that party. Think of it a step above biased, but below directly works for. Maybe actively aligned?

I skimmed the Politico article. If what they report is true, I would consider it unsettling. That said, their source is unclear, and as a 35F by trade, I need multiple sources. Also, the article *you* are citing claims "But they were far less concerted or centrally directed than Russia’s alleged hacking and dissemination of Democratic emails."

I apologize for a quick skim and a brief answer- getting dinner ready and preparing for the Lions game. I hope to gt back to this tomorrow.

You don't know what laws were broken at this time other than democrats that testified before congress lied about knowledge of the dossier. What hasn't been fully explained or investigated yet is just how deeply involved in the dossier were the Clinton campaign and the DNC. There is still the matter of the DNC and Clinton emails that may shed further light.
As for possible law violations, democrats have been saying Trump Jr violated the law by meeting with a Russian attorney who said she had dirt on Clinton. This is the same Russian attorney who had worked with Fusion GPS on other Russian projects. Does this mean the Democrats are backtracking now and it is ok to get dirt from the Russians?
There is also the matter of allegations of Russian involvement in the election to benefit Trump. This also involves the Russians and the election to benefit Clinton.

If they did not lie under oath or to the FBI there is n ok thing to investigate. The rest of the BS you want to investigate is both legal and common practice. What is the crime they are supposedly investigating? Allegation of the russian connection is just smoke and mirrors since nobody has presented any evidence.
What crime are they investigating on what basis?

You either don't seem to be aware of the law or you spend too much of your time getting your news from democrat spin machines.
John Podesta was the chairman of Hillary Clinton's election campaign and counselor to Obama. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was the DNC chairman in 2016. Both were in their positions at the time of hiring Fusion GPS. Both testified before congressional committees that they did not know anything about the dossier or who paid for it despite the fact that both of them held the top position in their organization and should have been aware of it. Additionally, Podesta was being represented and sitting next to the attorney who hired Fusion GPS during the congressional questioning.
Lying to a congressional committee is a Federal crime

MSG (Join to see) - Two thing neither was SWORN at the time neither was talking to law enforcement and so far there is ZERO evidence that they knew about the dossier.
That was an accurate article from find law, they are a great source, but not very relevant.
