Or, in my case, didn't know it was satire before I wrote my answer, thanks for pointing that out. Says something that I was prepared to believe it, though, because of things like the example I gave about "gaining" deafness. That isn't satire, it is expected to be taken seriously. I did see it in Canada, which is pretty much to the left of California on most things, so maybe it's worse there.

Satire only works because it pokes fun at current day issues and in this case at least that is a terminology that has been a subject of debate for decades.
