I'm not impressed. Sadly, if there is one fault with America that annoys me, it is that so many Americans want to fundamentally change our nation to look like some idealized version of someplace else. The simple truth is that President Reagan had it right. "If we look to the answer as to why, for so many years, we achieved so much, prospered as no other people on Earth, it was because here, in this land, we unleashed the energy and individual genius of man to a greater extent than has ever been done before. Freedom and the dignity of the individual have been more available and assured here than in any other place on Earth. The price for this freedom at times has been high, but we have never been unwilling to pay that price." He wasn't talking about Russia

In fairness, his perspective is different than any of ours, and he wasn't trying to make the point that America should become more like Russia. He was just comparing/contrasting. I thought it was a great read.

Most of us with a little or a lot of snow on the roof recall how it was while we visited these countries decades ago. Today, due to the evolution of technology and a fairly good economy, these same countries bear no resemblance to what we saw long ago. However, where is the most desirable country for most legal immigrants go to?

I will stay right here. I have been in some former Eastern Block states. Yeah I would take New York City or Chicago over them.
