Huh, NONE of you guys think calling a Congressional staffer "Sweetheart" is demeaning? From the article text, he obviously meant it that way.
"It stems from a meeting in October 2016 between Gonsalves and office staff with Rep. Jim Langevin (D-Rhode Island) at Fort Carson. According to a report, Gonsalves called a female staffer 'sweetheart,' and commented on her age.
Gonsalves also told the staffer to take notes 'since she was a Democrat and did not believe in funding the military,' according to a report from the Army Inspector General."
He was being a condescending shit. He wasn't ousted, he was denied a promotion.

SPC Tiffany Reynolds - Perhaps the moral of the story is don't be overly sensitive and whiney looking to be offended at every turn. Develop a spine, if you didn't like the way you were spoken to, let him know one on one. The General has no sway over her career or promotional opportunities etc. The Congressman she works fore certainly has some sway over the general. We all want nice polite tea party generals until someone flips the table over, kills your tea party guests, then you want Patton back to vanquish the bad guys.

Cpl Jeff N. - nah, the moral of the story is don't be an idiot if you want to be promoted.

Capt Gregory Prickett - That is your moral of the story. Mine would be don't say anything to the congressional staffer that might crush her fragile universe. The best think to do is ignore her existence, that is safe. We've invested 25+ years in general officer whose career we will stall over the word sweetheart. I guess that sounds about right in DC these days.

Cpl Jeff N. - we've invested 25+ years in someone who has poor judgment, and whose career thankfully was ended over his treatment of others.

You seem to be ignoring that the General was both disrespectful and WENT FULL ON POLITICAL in the interview , the last alone should have him filing for retirement.

If the General had called his wife "sweetheart" there would not be an issue. Instead, he decided to be condescending to a young female Congressional staffer. That means he's an idiot and someone who doesn't need another star.
