As long as Earth's climate was stable dinos did well and prospered. However when climate began quicker changes (Geographically), their special niche starting shrinking. Any species that is over specialized for a particular climate/flora/fauna, it is impossible for that species to adapt to fast changes. They loose their food source, weather, etc. They start to limit breeding, and slowly die off.
