I would like to see background checks for gun buyers strengthened, however there is more to addressing the issue of school shootings than making guns a little more difficult to access for those who shouldn't have them... this article discusses another important aspect of these tragedies that should be addressed.

We appear to be moving closer to the utopia promised by the left. Not saying everyone on the left is bad, and 17 kids gunned down should be beyond politics. However, the most fundamental foundation of our society is being torn apart with no regard to consequence. Be careful what you ask for...

It seems to me that successful parenting and families are not a left vs right issue. I'm pretty far to the left, however I've been married to the same wonderful woman for over 32 years. Trump is pretty far to the right and he's had multiple failed marriages.
What is a left vs. right issue is how to best support American families. The left seems to take the approach that ensuring economic opportunity and access to essential needs like food, shelter and medical care is the best way to support families while the right seems to take the approach that limiting individual liberty (a women's right to access birth control, the right of gay people to get married) is the best way to support families.
My point is that despite wildly divergent approaches, the desire to support and nurture families exists across the political spectrum. We need to figure out how to work together to reduce stress and strain on the American family.
