They were COWARDS. Secure the perimeter with kids being slaughtered? Give me a break. My Dad told me a story of a young sailor, who was in his section, that cowered in a corner when his Destroyer was in a gale in the Pacific in 1946. He had to get him transferred out because no one wanted to serve on watch with him because they could not trust him not to fold under pressure. If you cannot face your fears and conquer them - you do not need to be a Police Officer.

I agree. But who is signing up to be in Law Enforcement. This is like the FBI and DOJ. The Democrats have poisoned the well. What could possibly be a benefit to joining and becoming a Police Officer. Regardless of your actions to uphold the law you will be attacked by the perp, the MSM, and then the Politicians. Maybe the reason we have the folks we do in law enforcement is due to the perception that they are less than prepared for the challenges. It could be stated the same with firemen. I haven't seen the individuals that failed to uphold their oath but I bet if there is "diversity" amongst them all will be forgiven. This entire event could have been prevented if social experiments were ended and the best qualified were rewarded with the job/profession.

The Columbine massacre (1999) taught Law Enforcement to quickly neutralize active shooters. At Columbine, "squat teams" of heavily armed Officers created a secure perimeter around the school & squatted while two disturbed young men methodically murdered students inside. Cops could hear the shooting -- those who wanted to enter & engage the shooters were ordered to remain in place. Following Columbine, protocols for Law Enforcement response to school shootings changed significantly. Apparently Sheriff Israel didn't pass that along to his agency.

The Sheriff needs to be fired. We hold everyone else accountable except for people in public office for the acts/or lack thereof of the people below them. There is a systemic problem there...
