You could get some organic reach, if you simply posted content that was 1) entertaining 2) inspiring or 3) informative - unfortunately, the newer FB algorithm makes it even harder for a business to do that without paying their toll. So, if you want to reach your customers on their platform at all, it's now "pay to play" for small business.

Most of my current clients (foreign / English as a Second Language) don't use Facebook as much as LinkedIn or other ways to network. But I do know some B2C (Business to Consumer) types like Shopify stores, etc. almost depend on FB ads.

In my opinion, Facebook is a total waste of time. Paying advertising through social media is useless and from my experience I have no idea if the analytical data is correct. I suspect it is not. Social media posts are image driven and are not that entertaining, informative, or inspiring. What I prefer it to develop content on my website that I can control and the information is lasting. I know it takes time to drive traffic to one's website. I just take it one day at a time. It is all about the journey for me. If others want to join me on my journey they are more than welcome. However, they will not find me on Facebook.

I agree with you that if you dont see a return or value in it to dump it. FB is driven by use and engagement. So if it just there it won’t really function. However, I also think that it doesn't hurt to maintain it. The masses continue to use the platform and it is still very relative. I would continue to focus on your site traffic, but I would also use FB as a means to direct traffic to it. Post links to your blog, maybe some photos, and Id also use it to for updates, and even for clients to post their reviews. Just another tool in the tool box.

One of my issues with Facebook is I have no idea if my post are reaching anyone. I don't trust the analytical data. Yes, many people use Facebook, Twitter, Vero, and Instagram. However, after 5 years of testing their effectiveness, I have decided to stop wasting my time and devote my time to building my website. Building my website will be more productive and I have control over the content and how I wish to drive traffic to it. People on many social media platforms will "Like" a post that has a link to it. But are too lazy to actually visit the site and read the information. So, the number or "Likes" and "Followers" are meaningless.

Lima Charlie. Makes sense to focus your energy where it will be beneficial. Your personal site is yours an isn’t dictated by someone else.
