Definitely pros and cons to having so little job security at high level positions. The downside for the people is it looks like our govt is unstable.

Agreed sir. That’s the view I take, however, to others it may look like the administration is confused.

The VA is a waste, a money pit, a dinosaur of an agency. First issue is the administration. They claim to hire so Mamet doctors. What do these doctors do? Well, I’ll tell you. They hire doctors from these other second world countries to see patients. While hiring doctors form CONUS with large specialty pays doing administrative work. The rest of the industry is using advanced degree nurses the VA hold on to antiquated practices. The Army’s previous Surgeon General was a nurse. A position she successfully held for four years. She was the second nurse to hold that post. There have been plenty of nurses who have been in charge of military hospitals. There is absolutely no reason why they can’t put more doctors with patients. If I had to guess they won’t do it because there is no way a nurse can be administering policies over doctors. Second, processes. If you have ever dealt with the VA you know that their processes are bulky and cumbersome. Everything they do takes months. I was tried to pay them back a $9,000 overpayment. They refused to accept it and told me to wait till they asked for it. Six months later they asked and treated me like a was trying to rip them off. Third, appointments. My father used the VA system. Or at least tried. Appointment were too far out that he just went elsewhere in most but the extreme cases. Again, back to the problem with too many doctors working administrator jobs than seeing patients. Go to USA Jobs where they advertise their positions. All administration jobs require a medical degree.

Drastic measures need be taken with the VA. Immediately, in order to cover shortages in medical personnel, the President can federalize state National Guard medical personnel, Army and Air Force. Second, Army and Air Force Reserve medical personnel can be put on rotating duty. All owe 2 weeks service on top of one weekend per month each year, let them do it in the VA. Next, require Disney Institute customer service training for all administrators and those in the VA who deal directly with patients, including professional medical staff. Next, let Disney help with the logistics of managed care. Each department should be treated like a queue at a Disney park attraction. There is an art and science to it. Patients should be in a friendly, compassionate and stress-reducing environment, from the smiles on employees faces, to the lighting, the decor and what's available for nourishment and comfort. A resort approach should not be out of the question. Each eligible vet should be treated like a hero. Hooah!
