The main weapons of the American Revolution were the muzzleloading flintlock musket, its attached bayonet, and the cannon. Secondary weapons were the rifle and pistol, swords and other cutting weapons.

At one reenactment for a joke we fitted a Brown Bess musket with a painted small cereal box (a magazine) taped on, a pair of bipods near the muzzle, and some kind of rear sight, and we called it an assault musket. A few of the visiting public thought it was real!
