Wait you’re telling me your surprised that some ignorant people joined the military and later got out and think their opinion means something to other then to them or their mom?

I’m putting those folks right up there with celebrity opinions I could care less about and sports stars who think their opinion about something other than the sport they play means a darn thing to anybody.

Assuming way too much...
Simply referring to an individual or group in a discussion or debate does not imply tht one gives a rat’s ass what they think bout a given topic.
But the same measure, having been blessed other a certain talent or skill in one area doesn’t instantly render any individual or group a subject matter expert in all others, especially politics or the US Constitution....lol
Quite frankly, if every single one of those so-called stars fell off the face of the earth today, I’d still sleep soundly tonight.....lol
Just my opinion.....

SSG Ronald Bloodworth - Given that the group was mentioned implies they were being thought about or they would not have been mentioned in the conversation. Take high school football coaches - no one mentioned them because they were not considered. If a person actually did not care, then the group in question would not come to mind. You may not like or agree with their opinion, but there is an attachment to their opinion.

Though I understand your point, "certain talent or skill in one area doesn’t instantly render any individual or group a subject matter expert in all others" - of course that shouldn't be a reason for a person not to advance their opinion. By the same measure, being in the military does not make a person a SME in politics or the US Constitution either, though that doesn't prevent them from having and voicing an opinion either, nor should it... and they get to wrap their opinion up in the flag and present it with a side of patriotism... Of course used car dealerships use the same tactic to sell their wares.

Besides, wasn't Ronald Reagan a movie star, and the current president a reality TV show personality? It would seem a certain group of people are swayed by the trappings of celebrity enough to vote it into office.

Gotta give you one thing, MSgt Steve Sweeney; that’s one hell of a thought process. To be clear, I never specifically mentioned a single sports team, athlete, coach, actor, or any other title in my comment. That being the cas, I stand by my comment 100%.
Not even one of those people or their I’ll come to my home, eat my food, drink my beer, or ogle my wife. Therefore, I give less than a fraction of a damn what any of them think about anything. Their only usefulness to me lies in their ability to entertain me just as was the case with gladiators of Rome andcourt jesters kept on retainer for various monarchs. My singular interest in any modern day celebrity begins and ends with watching them do what they are paid to do.
Now, regarding Ronald Reagan, he actually spent quite a number of years in politics as a democrat, and then held elected office as a Republican. He served as governor of California prior to 1980 where he presided over a deficit elimination of that state; one of the most indebted in the country. Contrary to the implication made, he did NOT simply jump from a movie career into the Oval Office. The current president, also contrary to popular misinformation, was a successful businessman long before any airing of a reality show. At this point, I should probably note than this show was very successful as well. Aside from that, the current president was also a bestselling writer with several books to his credit long before he declared intent to run for the presidency. But then again, most of the idolatrous psychophants of the leftist elites and media mouthpieces conveniently omit that information. Strange how that works.....
To be precise, I personally have never seen a single episode of Trump’s realitynshownbecause injabe absolutely zero interest in scripted and staged “reality”’show that are, in reality, anything but. I have watched certain sports in the past only because of my interest in the sports themselves, and damn sure not because of idolization of any individual player or teams. Again, if every single one of these so-called “stars”’fell of the planet right now, I’d still sleep soundly.
Quite frankly, I voted for president Reagan in 1984 because of what I had witnessed from his administration during his first term in office.
I supported president Trump because of his overall message and the fact that almost every other candidate on the 2016 presidential ticket was bought and paid for by establishment RINO’s who have, along with the leftist democrats, placed themselves far ahead of anything else; especially this nation...
In my opinion, the assumption that simply referring to a person or group implies that the one making the reference cares what they think about anything at all is far off target. Implying that those who support a past movie star or out current president are “swayed” by the trappings of celebrity equally off target.
Now, in regards to elected officials or candidates, what I care about is that their opinions and professed values mirror mine if they expect to earn my vote of confidence.
Unfortunately for the nation today, it seems that abject ignorance, historical illiteracy, and total apathy seem to have morphed into unconditional support and blind obedience to self enriched sociopaths who love self above all else.
And my family wonders why I’m so mistrustful of government and society now.... it should be obvious.
Just my opinion...

Aside from the obvious issues, one thing they said sticks out..."No one...and I mean no one other than law enforcement or military should have one of these"...

...that right there is EVERYTHING wrong with their point of view.

"Official" forces aren't the only people who have a right to defend themselves, their families and their homes from the very REAL threats out there. One doesn't need a uniform or a badge to stand when expected to run, cower or surrender. By the same logic, not possessing one of these weapons doesn't make anyone "more" compassionate, restrained or responsible...it just makes them powerless to act.

I'll give these people the same respect I give anyone who served...but that doesn't make their misunderstanding of freedom any less incorrect.

There are service members that raped fellow servicemembers don’t much care about their opinion either
Service members that violated their oath to protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic don’t much care about their opinion either

The majority of service numbers are great Americans the smaller minority that are murders, rapist, drug dealers, thieves, pedophiles, pimps, or in this case ignorant politicized vets being used as a tool of the left, and sometimes sociopaths and sometimes just mentally deranged... that doesn’t mean they’re not a veteran it just means we don’t really care what they have to think.

Thank you for your service assuming you departed honorably, now go away.
