It's time to put an end to this. Someone, you'd think the NRA, would put together a all-encompassing test case and force the Supreme Court to rule once and for all that the 2nd Amendment says what it says and force legislators and courts to stop screwing with our rights. Personally, I'm tired of this and getting more than a little annoyed. And I'm a little scared because, if it doesn't stop, there's going to be a very Uncivil War and people are going to get hurt.

So you think the moderators are commiting fraud. You I have been verified.
Ranting insanely does not prove anything other than that you are unstable.

The "Ranting insanely does not prove anything other than that you are unstable." statement is a perfect self description of your comments and statements not just in this discussion but many others in the past. The comments quoted above are personal attacks that you have you yourself made on just this thread alone not counting any others in this discussion..

Not likely at all. I wonder how the founders would feel about this?

TSgt David L. I know atleast how Thomas Jefferson, Washignton and Franklin would act they would not support this because they would see this is just a prelude to bigger more ambitious bans.

Founders might agree with letting National Guard or reservists owning since they drill part-time. Not sure about average civilians due to lack of prior training and non-participation in military matters.

LTC Eugene Chu - How many of the Revolution were trained soldiers? Not all were Minutemen. If they wanted the 2nd Amendment to read MILITARY, they would have written it that way.

Wow that's a lot of ignorance on the part of the judges. How can an AR-15 be "most useful in military service." if it's not deployed in significant numbers by any major military force on the planet?

AR-15 may not be deployed, but its forerunner has been used in multiple conflicts. M-16 has 90% of same features of AR-15 (5.56mm / .223 caliber ammo, pistol grip, semi-automatic fire, burst / bump-stock automatic fire upgrade)

LTC Eugene Chu - There is no "burst" or automatic on an AR. Comparing a father to his son proves nothing anyway.

LTC Eugene Chu - And pray tell - What do you think was the forerunner of the AR-15?
Have you ever seen an M-16 with a bump-stock? Didn't think so.

LTC Eugene Chu - A bump stock or similar gimmicky device isn't even close to an equivalent of the select fire feature of an Assault Rifle, it does allow an untrained user to increase their rate of fire but does not allow for anything resembling control or accuracy. In fact these devices never had a "use case" prior to the tragedy in Las Vegas, while we now know you can use one to fire indiscriminately into a large crowd, this is not exactly a useful feature for a military.

Conversely, the select fire capability of an Assault Rifle is specifically designed to give a war fighter as much control as possible for multiple combat situations. You can use semi automatic for fine control, accuracy and to make it easier to conserve ammunition, you can (usually) use 3 round burst fire to send 3 rounds into a target with good accuracy and you can (sometimes) use fully automatic fire usually in a situation where you need to provide suppressive fire at the expense of accuracy, though it's worth noting that an Assault Rifle in full-auto mode will always be much more accurate than a semi auto rifle with a bump stock type device which literally functions by causing the rifle to move more than it's designed to as it fires.

As far as the shared caliber in most Assault Rifles and most AR-15 type rifles that's certainly true but not especially relevant because these intermediate caliber rounds were specifically chosen for military use not because of their lethality but because their lighter weight (compared to the .30 caliber Battle Rifle rounds they were replacing) allowed a soldier or Marine to carry many more rounds when they went out on patrol. In effect these weapons traded the lethality of their predecessors for solving specific challenges unique to the military. There was much debate, continuing to this day as to whether this was the right choice for a typical soldier or Marine. One thing that's worth noting here when talking about intermediate sized ammunition is that in several states it's illegal to hunt with .223 ammunition because it's not lethal enough and can cause undue suffering in the hunted animal.
