Louisiana had this incentive program also. It doesn't interfere with GI Bill since tuition exemption is state funded not federal. Obviously, the soldier has to juggle annual training and/or deployment requirements. I found that speaking to professors regarding conflicts with training to be productive. Normally, this program would be only eligible at state funded schools. One thing that will happen is a higher turnover at the end of the 6 year commitment due to graduation and potential of out of state moves to accommodate new civilian careers.

I honestly see no issue since it would be state funded as opposed to federal. In any case, I attended college online while deployed and also after I redeployed to CONUS after my deployments ended as I was retained on Title 10 status a guard soldier and there was no conflict. My point is that state funding should interfere with GI Bill education benefits any more than an active duty soldier or NGAR soldier attending college while on active duty orders....
Stay productive, keep a clean service record, and maintain the acceptable GPA and it’s done deal, and oth no tuition costs to the soldier....

I think that sounds like a great idea on the surface, but can’t help but think it overlaps with Army Tuition Assistance and the GI BILL.

SSG (Join to see) - SGT Barrie, curious to know if the Massachusetts Guard has seen an uptick in its strength because of the free tuition for guard members. I am glad to know that its been working well in your state!

CPT(P) (Join to see) - I don't know how long they've been doing it for. I initially enlisted with them in 2007 and it was a thing then, so at least that long. I can't say I've ever heard them complaining about numbers either.

SSG (Join to see) - Numbers in KS have always been a struggle. That will help immensely as border prospects usually go elsewhere.
