If he earned it, leave him alone.

This started out calm enough but nobody should begrudge anyone else getting recognized for this honor. TSgt Chapman covered their exfil. If he was alive, and it's looking more and more that he was, he did more than that. So much for being grateful for his sacrifice.

CPO (Join to see) - I get that SEALs are "special", but they aren't the only game in town. The fact that common air breathers aren't "good enough" and are merely support is no surprise to me. Navy EOD (and remember, I love my brothers) looks down on us common air breathers because we aren't as cool. I didn't know that they aren't SPECWAR any longer. They have always supported that side of the house (DEVGRU as well) and made sure we knew it. The EOD program is a Navy run deal and we all do the same basic missions. I just don't jump or dive to get to "work".

LTC Jeff Shearer - I'm not even going to compare AF EOD to PJs, CCT, JTAC, Special Tactics and TACP. That said, AF EOD has run in Afghanistan and Iraq (and other places over there) in place of over tasked/over worked Army EOD since 9/11. To my knowledge there has never been a mission that did go because the Chair Force was there instead of Army assets. We take pride in being ready and able to do whatever needs done. I would be disappointed to hear that an AF unit of any flavor let someone down.

TSgt David L. - No they are Spec War its just called(Navel Special Operations) They just pulled out of NSW 2006 as an HQ and fall under NECC, that controls all Navy Special type Ground Assets. They now support all SOF in Direct action missions and regular warfare units as well. There is a EOD Admiral in charge of NECC, and then usually a CEC as XO and a HN (Corpsman) or EOD Master Chief as what we call Force and then a Seabee as Command Master Chief for NECC HQ.

CPO (Join to see) - Interesting. I've been out of the game for a while and don't keep up on the Navy program as much as I do ours. The fact that they have Flag Officers has always been a big benefit. Ours are Civil Engineering Officers and have to go that way to promote. Very rare to get an 0-6 EOD officer in the Pentagon, much less one with a star on their shoulders. Those that do aren't in an EOD position so they can't do much to help the program.
