Because the shills in the media, especially CNN, muddy the waters of rational discourse with their narrative and agenda.

@ Kelly Fuerhoff the simple answer is because you can't. You cannot stop a person intent on causing harm to others from doing so. You cannot stop a person with such malice in their heart from acting on their desire to harm those that they believe has wronged them. Further, it is made difficult by the fact that the motives behind these shootings are not consistent. Mass shootings can be motivated by everything from bullying to politics to religion to mental illness to you name it. How do you combat that? Removing all the guns in existence in the world will not solve violence. It will simply cause the perpetrators of these heinous acts to evolve.

Though I usually agree with most of your posts, I must take exception to this one. I believe we can do something. We can pay more attention to our society, to what is going on with our children, with identifying and treating issues that create the situation where a person believes this is the only alternative.
Not necessarily a law being passed, more an awareness. For eons humans have protected their offspring, their families. They did so by being aware of threats. We need more of that now. Not only external threats, but threats from within our own family members. One cannot correct a problem if they do not at first admit there is a problem. We have a problem, period. Time to take whatever aggressive actions we must to correct this problem.

MSG Stan Hutchison - While the things you mentioned can help, they can't prevent a determined shooter from committing an atrocity unless they are 100% effective. Is it your opinion that they could be 100% effective?

SSgt Christopher Brose - As you said, a determined shooter willing to give his life to achieve his objective, is not something that can be stopped. The only thing that can be done is making it more difficult for a shooter to find a soft target.

The article starts with a lie......as Americans are doing "something"
People on both sides of the issue are trying to "do something" though they fight each other and disagree with what that "something" should be.
Some schools (and um, those would be Americans i believe" have done something by increasing security, getting more trained armed responders.
.. But hey, non of that fits the CNN money making agenda,, so , eff, who cares

I usually never down vote anyone because we can all agree to disagree but I down voted you because you down voted me. Here’s your answer. If you read below you will see I up voted you on your comments calling claims of bullying an excuse. If we all down voted people who we disagreed with we’d all have negative points. Grow some thicker skin.

Guys, don’t worry about her. I don’t care about some made up points and wouldn’t mind if we got rid of the whole points thing. If she can’t take someone having a different opinion its a shame but honestly her opinion means nothing to me in the grand scheme of my life. I find it funny though how I had voted her up on certain things she did say about bullying. I am not ruled by one side’s political dogma and understand that I can disagree with someone on something but agree with them on others.
