When i was on the range at MCRD PISC 500 yards KD was routine for all Marines.

When i was striking for Rifle/pistol team we did 1000 yards...

Didn’t make it... learned a ton... nothing but respect for those with legs...

Same here. I missed getting a pistol leg badge by one round, back in the day. I just wasn't good enough, and I have the utmost respect for those who are.

Couldn’t hit the floor with a pistol. Thought i was good with a rifle until i went head-to-head with a crusty old bastard Staff Sergeant who’d been a sniper in Vietnam.

A *VERY* humbling experience...

Sgt Wayne Wood - I'm OK with a rifle, much better with a pistol. There was a guy on my high school rifle team who had an Anschutz and whose kneeling scores on an ISU 50' target were as good as my prone. At the time, I tried to convince myself that it was the rifle, even though I was using a Remington 40XB - years later I finally admitted that Warren was just much better than I was...

GySgt John Olson yup... done it.

If i got a prive who couldn’t hit paper prone at 500 i’d squeeze of head shots (prone) with his weapon.

On occasion, i’d do an off-hand at 500 but not often... the line officer was seldom amused.
