I've heard this buzz line a few times in the last few years as we start to draw down and get away from training to deploy.
If I were king for a day, I would go back to protected Sergeants Time Training on a weekly basis. This was the best prepared, resourced training I saw when I was a 2LT as a platoon leader. The new mantra of everyday is a training day doesn't work because of so many distractors. Leaders at BN/BDE can't fight all of the distractors for a company, but they can protect one day a week to allow squads to execute training led by their proficient NCOs. This helps develop those junior NCOs as leaders and reinforces their basic METL proficiency at the squad level. If they aren't proficient at that level than any collective training done at the company or higher level is a waste of resources. //end rant.

Same old talk. It is a catch phrase, but without action it is just words.

I agree with you, LTC (Join to see), regarding political correctness. And I agree with you and the SMA about the way our armed forces have been fighting for the past 13 years. Maybe we do need to get back to the basics, if for no other reason than to let our adversaries know that we have not forgotten about them.

This quote by SMA Chandler is so true, and has been true for the 39 years I've been associated with the Army: "'They’ll do what we ask them to do; they have, and they’ve done it magnificently from my perspective,' he said."

In fact, that's what makes it so great to be associated with our Army and our military. We get things done.
