Imkimda expected that...such low-tech aircraft were obv useful in Vietnam, like the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk pot Skyraider, I forget the exact name...my unit CO when I'd been had flown 150 combat missions in an O-2 armored Piper Fub as a FAC, basically a twin tailed Piper Cub, if you'll recall, it was seen in the film Bat 21 with Gene Hackman and Danny Glover...the A-10 was actually built right near my wife and myself at Fairchild Republic Aircraft, long gone now, however, a prop aircraft, someone mentioned A-4 had a radial engine on Jere when I'd erroneously said turboprop, would most likely have comparably long loiter times, so I'd certainly comprehend why it'd be useful, certainly...it'd have to be comparably armored, like the A-10...one tends to wonder if an aircraft could be designed to switch between prop drive, and jet drive, for sheer sqke of flexibility and variable airspeed and maneuverability, as well....
