Army to extend OSUT for Infantry Soldiers

Pilot program starts this month. Going to need a lot more Drill Sergeants!!

With the rapid deployment from Ft. Benning to where ever the hot spot is the infantry people need to be able to fight when they hit the ground. Not only fight but survive day one. Some units actually require all new arriving combat soldiers to basically go through a "live-combat" training school when they arrive to their combat unit before being sent out into the field. Some require this training multiple times during the deployment. I am all for protecting the soldiers that are assigned to lethal combat units that are required to deploy kinetics to the threat force. I remember a sign at a Ft. Benning range, "A soldier that cannot strike the target counts for very little in combat."

Let the Army train the Army. Let politicians do what ever else they do.
