Thanks SGT (Join to see) ! The lack of analysis that so many of these feel-good efforts (that actually do real harm) is becoming such a common thread. Do we really need to be listening to entertainers rather than scientists and engineers?

SPC Martin Wiesiolek - I agree, and stayed skeptical of her take as well. Neither side has foundationally justified their position, but only one is telling me to do something (stop using plastic straws). Show me the facts that link plastic straw use in the US with the (large or small) negative outcomes, and I may be willing to pay more for crappier paper straws.

SPC Martin Wiesiolek - Perhaps. But I have not yet accepted their premise (that plastic straws are sufficiently harmful to merit their banning at all) because they have not provided any facts.
