Great article. I have ,a Savage 24 that I got when i was 12. 22 over 20 gauge. Great squirrel gun.

CW5 Jack Cardwell I'd have to be really hungry before I considered "tree rat" as a meal. I do know a lot of folks that like it though.

I've thought long and hard about it, and I feel a shotty would be fine if you're bugging in, but the size/weight of ammo would make nothing out with one less than ideal. If possible take everything, if on foot take a carbine.

Great post!

Dave Canterbury did a few video's on single shot 12 ga, with drop in shot gun adapters, so you could shoot .22/.38/9mm or other rounds. it was from these video's I pick up an older 12ga Winchester, it is a long 12 I think was made for gobblers.
