Wow, brining up Marshall and Sanow statistics, haven't seen anyone drag those numbers out in years. While Evan Marshall was a good cop that wanted to help other cops make better ammo choices, there is a lot of problems with his data and methodology. He is counting anecdotal information and people are trying to claim it is scientific numbers. He also only counted what worked, he didn't count what failed. Just as important as a one shot stop would be counting multiple shot failures.

I posted this just to see who would notice the flaws in the data. Dr Fackler was spot on years ago.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - I have problems with Dr. Fackler's data too. Especially when people try to use his findings to pick a load for concealed carry. I think their is a big difference between self defense shootings and police shootings. Dr. Fackler also was the Morgue Monster, all his data was based on shooting deaths. You don't need to kill a person to stop them.

I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. And I'm still waiting for the perfect data set that combines the lab work with real street data.

There is just no one collecting comprehensive data from all shootings about what works and what doesn't.

With the right ammo the 9mm is plenty for stopping power. If the military was allowed to use that ammo it would be a different story. I'll still take my 1911 every day.

Jefe, my personal favorite round is the .357 sig and the ole .38 SPL. However!!! I remember my boys telling me from time to time we needed this round or this round, ya ya, bigger faster etc...

This is a hard pill to swallow for some people that have it in their mind the gun or round is a cure all. Shot placement is the answer to most concerns. If your target is in range and not behind cover is simple additive to success. Jefe I know you know this but go with me I am on a roll, I have no idea how many times I have heard some jackass reporter say the cop should have shot the bad guy in the hand. I pounded into my guys center mass and head those are shots that stop problems. There are times when a person should put a round or two center mass just because it is a larger target and then finish with a head shot. Jefe I could go on and on about this but many folks dont understand the firearm is simply a tool a warriors tool and a tool of death but a tool non the less. The barbarian squeezing the trigger is the decision maker. So now that I am completely off subject I will end with this; It does not matter it the tool is a Sig Sauer, a good knife, a Blacks Law dictionary, or a snap on wrench set, because in the hands of the wrong person they are just things but in the hands of the right person they are tools.

Sorry Jefe. I have not slept much and I think am a little crazy this AM haha

David I like your style, I am a colt .45 fan myself. As a matter of fact I fell in love with pistol shooting as young 2LT shooting a Colt 1911. Just a thought to kick around, not many firearms have their frame style recopied so often, everyone loves a 1911. But Colts dont make a bad firearm.
