Richard I think it would fix a many issues, HOWEVER, this is not as simple as hey I got a gun I carry it to class. Nope, it would be lots of training, then lots of continuous training after that. I would be willing to offer a program and a continuous program for free. Just give me an empty classroom and a place to shower and shave. Oh and of course some food ahhaha. The issue is my solution as far as the gun part is not a give me, it is a hard training program and getting your mind right. However the days of killing a bunch of kids and staff would be over. The jackass might get off a round or so before a staff member dial in on the 10 ring aka a kill shot and ended it but rest assured no more disgusting events like the past.

MAJ Eugene Chu, MBA - Eugene agree, I have always said just giving a teacher the okay to carry is a recipe for bad things. It can be done, but people have no idea how much training would go into the program. Just for the record just because you put your name on the list to volunteer does not mean you can carry. A person would only get to carry after a minimum training criteria was met and successfully passed. If a person failed to meet the minimum standards they would not be able to carry. This program would involve many things.

For the school in general, everyone would get training on trauma first aid, triage etc... who to call and as soon as the situation was identified as an active shooter.

SPC John Parmenter - John I heard some jackass on tv say they did not want to make our schools feel like a jail with all the security. It hit me like a ton of bricks, I dont have much money but I am okay with the gun carrying guards at the bank and all the cameras. So if I only have a little money and my son is the most valuable thing in my life I am okay if a machine gun position is set up if needed to keep em safe. We are a confused society

I believe if properly trained they could be the first line of defense.

Cowboy the key is training training training basic, to advanced marksmanship. The must become experts of the campus, they have to know shortcut from here to there, what areas give cover and concealment, means of communication with the staff, with the police ambulance ect...

People dont get the seriousness of the situation - This is not as simple as giving a coach a gun. I would be more than happy to advise any school that needed help, but this is not a joke nor does it need to be taken lightly. Oh to matters more interesting no student should ever know who carries and who does not, ever.
