Trump at a precarious moment in his presidency: Privately brooding and publicly roaring

Maj Marty Hogan - you know, for a "rag", they have broken a lot of major political news over the years. Remember Nixon and the source 'Deepthroat'? That was the Post. Or, come to think of it, you may not be old enough to remember that. Nixon supporters were saying the same thing that you are--but the WaPo kept going, and Nixon left in disgrace.

Capt Gregory Prickett - That was almost a half century ago. Unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember it. If you have to reach that far back to find an example of competent reporting, perhaps it's time to reassess.

SSgt Christopher Brose - there are plenty of other examples, but I doubt that Maj Marty Hogan remembers that, if he were even alive. And it is a direct parallel to the stories today.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I will concur. I also have a broken watch and it is correct twice a day- everyday 365 days each year. My point is when you write op-ed stuff you are no longer journalistic and your integrity should be called into question. Just report the news- if this would have been on the opinion page. Great. Its not. SSgt Christopher Brose pointed out the story in reference to Watergate was over fifty years ago- journalistic integrity was most likely in its dying throws during that decade. In the last twenty years I would not grade them much higher than the rags on the checkout rack. Far as the Post being reliable and highly respected- I am guessing with the way the media is viewed that the bar laying on the ground is not hard to step over.
