There was an average of 9 deaths in ICE detention per year under Obama.

There was an average of 10 deaths in ICE detention per year under Trump's first term.

There were 32 deaths in ICE detention in 2025.

Yes, it is a systemic problem noted under the Obama administration that still hasn't been fixed as of last month.

Maybe someone in charge should look into that and fix it now, instead of talking about "they did it too".

Here's another figure: 27 people died in ICE custody in 2024, compared to 31 (not 32. As usual, your numbers are off, and always in the same direction. Curious, that!). The per capita rate of deaths in ICE custody was three times as high under Biden as it was under 44 and 45. In 2025, it was "only" twice as high as pre-2021, and the most common causes were heart attacks, strokes, and seizures, followed by drug withdrawal. Only the last of those is likely preventable.
