Something I noticed earlier this week on FB. Monday and Tuesday it was covered with patriotic and never forget messages, from folks that post kittens, puppies, and pictures of plates of food as a rule. Do they only think of their country, and Patriotism twice a year, the 4th of July and 9-11? Then the rest of the year they live in "My Little Pony" land? Sometimes I just get disgusted.

I will never forget. I lost a first responder friend in the towers. I say a prayer of thanks every time I see a fire truck, an ambulance or a fire station. 9-11 and my multiple losses stay in the forefront of my heart.

I remember talking to a lieutenant in June, 2003 from New York in my armor Captain's career course. He was stationed downtown in New York City after The Towers fell. He was with the National Guard and he said that he was suffering the effects of all the chemicals and smoke from the rubble. They say that many First Responders have had respiratory problems and some have died from the exposure. Let us not forget that many are still suffering to this day. Aside from the ones who lost loved ones or who were injured from the building collapses. There are thousands who have respiratory problems. Thank you for discussing that the hijackers were the ones who overstay their visas. To show the number of people who overstay their visas and the way to control them is lawful and not racist.

It's not much but I do what I can with local VFW. We put up US flags for Federal holidays, give flag etiquette classes at local schools and put up flags in classrooms when requested. Small things that make a difference.
