No matter how well the test is rigged, soldiers, Marines and Pilots are going to die when we have the next real war. Why, because the F-35 can't even take a 22 bullet. It can't take a 5.56 through 23 mm ordinance either. The pilot is not protected by titanium. The troops on the ground can't wait for the F-35 to refuel and rearm. The F-35 has one fourth of the bullets required. 30 mm for the A-10 versus 25 millimeter for the F-35. 250 rounds vs 1350 rounds. 4-Hour dwell time versus one-hour dwell time. Money wasted, lives lost from both pilots and ground personnel. the military industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned us about is back again! We lost Senator John McCain and we only have congresswoman McSally. Hopefully she wins the senate seat can continue to fight the military industrial complex in the Air Force and the Marine Corps.

Agree, F-35 as a replacement for the A-10 is one of those dumber than dirt things that come out of the puzzle palace........rather frequently lately.

I think if the A-10 goes away without a viable replacement, there may be a mutiny in the combat arms ranks. lol

LTC Stephen Conway If you had a bunch of engineers & ground pounders sit around a table and design the best close air support aircraft to replace the A-10..... you'd get the A-10!!

They're coming up with the F-15 x-ray model which incorporates a lot of the of the helmet and see through the cockpit gear of the F-35, why can't they do the same thing with the warthog x-ray model?
