Some didn't exist 40 years ago. Many existed, but have found new applications. Still, an excellent example of how American is a living language adapting new words and new usage. Indeed, it seems to be a genetic trait of Americans to adapt so quickly to such things. Someone can walk into a room and say "Let's rap" and be understood even though that usage has never before been heard. And then "rap" (talk) became "Rap" a new music form of speaking lyrics rather than singing them.
