One of the RP members appeared incensed that conservatives are not taking Fords statements at face value since she is 100% sure (no witnesses, unk date, year, location, holes in memory).
I posed a question "if we changed our justice system to allow convictions based solely on a person's uncorroborated statement with no witnesses, no evidence, decades later, would you be comfortable with a conviction if you were the one accused?".
I haven't received a reply back.

MSG (Join to see) -I expect the FBI will report that Kavanaugh had a big reputation around the school as a partyer and heavy drinker. Possibly accounts of him passing out drunk, being sloppy drunk, and being a belligerent drunk. Maybe even more. Who knows?
I am not concerned with his drinking and partying as much as his lying about it now. Of course if Dr. Ford's story gets confirmed, then we have a different problem on hand.

It's always the lying that brings them down.

Now, does everyone on the right believe Dr. Ford made up this story in 2012 when she told her therapist? Was that part of a vast left wing conspiracy?

First, the allegations are about sexual assault, they are not about his drinking. The drinking surrounding Ford was in High School, there has been no testimony other than Ford's that Kavanaugh got drunk. Everyone else has said they didn't see him drink heavily in High school.
As for College, he said he drank beer, a lot of beer. He said he didn't have black outs. That isn't lying.
As for the allegation that he stuck a dildo in Ramirez's face, she told her friends that she didn't remember who it was. She didn't say she was sure of it until she had hired an attorney and spent 6 days thinking about it. Everyone she named said they didn't see it and never heard about it the entire time they were at school.
I think if we are going to start eliminating people who drank in High School and College or even committed minor offenses, we aren't going to have anyone left for political offices or court.
As for Ford's story, I think just about everyone believes something happened to her, just not the way she is remembering it. A person who has had trauma in their life tends to remember certain things, sounds, smells, colors, a voice, etc. They don't always remember a face, a place, the people there, etc.
I think everyone has had occasions where they were absolutely positive that they had been to a place before, met a person, knew someone, and discovered that wasn't true.
As for her reporting it to her counselor in 2012, something probably triggered that. It could have been something she saw or heard that brought the memory to the forefront of her mind.
There is obviously something wrong about her memories because everyone she named is denying any knowledge of it. Her best friend who she said was with her stated that she has never met Kavanaugh before. This tends to give credence that it may have been someone else, possibly that looked like Kavanaugh.
The left wing conspiracy is more likely to be something like Avanatti's client, the anonymous letter stating Kavanaugh assaulted a woman in D.C., the man who claimed that Kavanaugh assaulted a woman on a boat, the fact that Ford's attorneys delayed the hearing stating Ford was afraid of flying, only to learn that Ford fly's frequently, and on and on.
As I stated previously, I believe something happened to Ford. I am also willing to believe her motives are pure if she returns every penny of the 1 million dollars that has been raised for her.

MSG (Join to see) - I will await the FBI findings. Personally, after seeing Kavanaugh's temper tantrums, I am more inclined to believe Ford. I had no strong opinion beforehand but now I do.

I'm kind of confused about your statement, what lying? He said he drank a lot in College, but didn't black out or fail to remember things. He said he drank in High School, but not heavily. That has been supported by numerous friends of his who said they saw him on a regular basis.
As for picking another judge, I doubt that will occur if nothing new is said.
The fact is, if another person is picked based on just the allegations we now have, you can be certain the same thing will happen to whoever else is picked. It may not be a sexual assault allegation, but you can be certain that the Democrat leadership will continue to fight to keep any nominee of Trump's off the bench.
You can also be certain that the same interest groups who have been paying for the ads looking for anyone with negative information on a nominee will re-double their effort.

Right now it appears to be all about feelings rather than facts. That is no way to run a country, a legal system or a hearing.

At risk of my own peril, I will jump into this fray. My opinion is based on my experience in dealing with issues of sexual assault from a factual point of view. I have 31 years of LE experience, most of it in Investigations. I have investigated sexual assaults from the first responder, Detective, and Detective supervisor position.

I was driving cross country when the hearings were happening and I listened to both testimonies. However, not being able to see their facial expressions only gave me part of the story. Just listening to her, I found Professor Ford to be sincere and credible. Although, her selective memory was troubling and raised a few red flags for me. That being said, after she was finished, I thought to myself that Kavanaugh was in trouble. However, I found Kavanaugh very credible too. His testimony pretty much canceled out hers. Fords testimony was emotional but Kavanaugh’s seemed for factual.

But since I am trained to look at things from a factual point of view, I have to consider all the evidence. Which includes other witnesses, other evidence such as the polygraph, Kavanugh’s calendar, and background information on both parties.

At the end of the day, the accusations don’t hold water. No other witnesses support Fords allegations, in fact they say the opposite. The polygraph is very suspect as it wasn’t completed by normal standards. The timing of the disclosure is very telling, especially since it has been held by Feinstein for so long. The judges calendar provides exculpatory evidence. The judge has been through numerous past FBI background investigations where none of this was every found. There isn’t any “there” there.

This case would have never even made it to a prosecutors desk, let alone be filed in criminal court.

While I know that many sexual assaults go unreported, I also know that many women file false claims of sexual assault. In my experience over 50% of claims reported to my police department were later determined to be false. Since these accusations became public, I spoke to some of my past sex crimes Detectives would worked for me over the years. All agreed that the majority of claims reported to them were later determined to be false. One Detective said that his experience was that 90% were false. Either way, it’s not uncommon for women to file false claims for various reasons.

Looking at the entire picture we always look at the motivation of the accuser. Is there a motivation to lie? In this case, the political motivations are very apparent and clear.

Sexual assaults towards women is a big issue. There are many powerful men out there that take advantage (ie- Cosby and Weinstein). But These types of unsubstantiated accusations only hurt women overall and will only set back the entire “me too” movement.
