I understand what they're trying to do, but the military put a majority of the people in the situation they're in. There are plenty of people across the DOD who are entirely capable of deploying but hide in non-deployable assignments. They need look at what's making these people non-deployable and then go from there. Put the ones who have deployed and have experience in recruiting or in TRADOC. Get the people in those assignments who haven't deployed out into the mix.

Non-deployable has nothing to do with assignment. It has to do with something physical, mental or paperwork wise that is wrong with the member that prevents them from deploying. IE Diabetes, hip/back/leg problem, not updating and/or filling out proper paperwork and getting it turned in, a permanent profile etc.

A person who has a desk job or one of those that KEEPS them in a certain area can still deploy, there is nothing that would prevent it if say they were re-classed.

Every point this article makes is completely incorrect.
No one is being unceremoniously kicked out when they're hurt. If you've been on profile over a year you should absolutely be looking at medical separation. Troops won't be afraid to go to medics, there's no reason for troops to to believe that getting treated for an issue will lead to being non deployable for a year. Rear detachments will work just as well with able bodied people as it would with broken personnel.

Nothing to fear if you can deploy.
