My first handgun was a S&W model 39, wish I kept it, joined the police department and got an issued S&W 38spl revolver. Now a days I got alittle of everything, I still wish I had kept that S&W-39, but I still have my first gun, a Browning Auto 12.

While this could fall under the research factor my first question with every firearm purchase is if its a reliable handgun. No matter the purpose if a gun is jamming, double feeding or any of that constantly is not going to be fun or piratical and in some cases can even be a safety concern.

Mine was a S&W model 39, for home defense. Still have it.
Never stop at just one.
How many screwdrivers do you own?

It's not so bad when you need a screwdriver and don't have one. A gun however ...

Great pistol the 39, I wish I had kept my 39.

SGT (Join to see) - A bit rough on recoil, especially with the 9mm Canadian surplus I used to put through it (3 cents a round, IIRC), which was probably a sub-machine gun load.

CW3 Harvey K. - Probably it was ammo for a Sub MP5, samething happened to me and my SEAS team. The SEAL team that gave us the ammo, gave us Sub ammo for their MP5s, didn't bother me I was using my Sig-226.
