This is an old scam but the scammers are getting more sophisticated. They call up someone pretending to be their grandchild who needs money urgently.

If I had grandkids or kids that needed money urgently, I think I'd know their voice well enough to not be scammed. Also, I'd just direct deposit what they needed into their accounts directly.

OPSEC. Like the article mentions, a cunning scammer will glean enough details from social media profiles for impersonation
